Tips to Distinguish Between Polyester and Nylon
Nylon and polyester are unclear. Tianyu tells you the difference so that you won't go wrong!
1.the difference between polyester and nylon
Polyester --- polyester fiber, commonly known as "polyester". It is a synthetic fiber obtained by spinning a polyester obtained by polycondensation of an organic dibasic acid and a diol, referred to as PET fiber, which belongs to a polymer compound. Invented in 1941, it is the first major variety of synthetic fibers. The biggest advantage of polyester fiber is that it has good wrinkle resistance and shape retention, and has high strength and elastic recovery ability. It is strong and durable, anti-wrinkle, non-iron, non-sticky.
Nylon-nylon is a term for polyamide fibers (nylon), which can be made into long or short fibers. Nylon is the trade name of polyamide fiber, also known as Nylon. Its basic constituents are aliphatic polyamides linked by amide bonds— [NHCO]. The density is 1.15g / cm3, which is a general term for thermoplastic resins containing repeating amide groups— [NHCO] —on the main chain of the molecule, including aliphatic PA, fatty-aromatic PA and aromatic PA. Invented by the famous American chemist Carothers and his research team.
2.how to distinguish?
Polyester imitation silk has a strong feel and bright luster, but it is not soft enough to have a glittering effect. It feels smooth, flat and elastic. Tighten the silk surface with your hands and loosen without obvious creases. The warp and weft are not easy to break after getting wet.
The gloss of nylon is relatively dim, and the surface has the feeling of being coated with a layer of wax, and the color is not bright. The hand feels stiff, it is loosened after pinching the fabric, there are creases, and it can slowly return to its original shape. Warp and weft fastness.
Nylon performance: strong, abrasion resistance, ranking first among all fibers. Its abrasion resistance is 10 times that of cotton fiber, 10 times that of dry viscose fiber, and 140 times that of wet fiber. Therefore, its durability is excellent. At the same time, the elasticity and elastic recovery of nylon fabrics are excellent.
Polyester performance: high strength. The short fiber strength is 2.6 to 5.7 cN / dtex, and the high strength fiber is 5.6 to 8.0 cN / dtex. Due to its low hygroscopicity, its wet strength and dry strength are basically the same. The impact strength is 4 times higher than nylon and 20 times higher than viscose fiber. Good flexibility. The elasticity is close to wool, and when it is stretched by 5% to 6%, it can be almost completely restored. Wrinkle resistance is better than other fibers, that is, the fabric does not wrinkle and has good dimensional stability.
